JUSTICE FOR CHRISTIAN HALL

Take Action Now

Our mission is to fight justice for Christian Hall and to inspire and promote impactful police reform inclusive of a strategized medical response to mental health calls for help instead of a law enforcement response. These are some of the most critical issues we will face through the power of civic engagement. Join our community of activists and allies as we work towards a better and more just world for all marginalized people.

About

Christian Hall was adopted from China by multiethnic parents, Fe Hall (Filipina-American) and Gareth Hall (African-American), shortly before his first birthday. Unfortunately, Fe and Gareth would not get to spend more than two decades with their loving son.

Christian Hall, a 19 year old Chinese American teen, experienced a mental health emergency on December 30, 2020. Pennsylvania State Police were called by Christian as a cry for help. The police were called on a suicide call and were supposed to help de-escalate the crisis. But rather than providing aid or assistance, the troopers shot and killed Christian. Christian was alone on the bridge and holding a pellet gun. The police shot at him twice with missing the first round due to the far distance.

As soon as the first round was shot, Christian put his hands up in the air in an act of surrender as he stood on the SR-33 southbound overpass to I-80, posing no threat to the armed officers who at a distance 70 ft away protected behind their police vehicles. And then a police commands another officer: "If he doesn't drop the gun, take him out". They wasted no time in ending his young life.

Christian is not alone in his tragic and unjustifiable death. Many minorities –– Black, Asian, and Hispanic alike –– continue to witness lives like Christian’s ended by police during mental health crises and realize they too may face great danger by calling 911 for help.

We need a way to protect our marginalized communities, including those who deal with mental health struggles and those who face racial disparities daily.

Christian’s life was full of possibilities. Let’s honor his life by fighting for change and preventing this same fate from happening to other minorities who simply needed help.

Police departments must enact changes to prevent future tragedies for other minorities. Law enforcement should preserve precious lives, not take them.

Demand District Attorney E Christine refer the case to Attorney General Josh Shapiro take the over the Christian Hall Investigation. We want an unbiased and full and fair investigation.

We want the DA and Police to release the names of the Troopers who killed Christian.

Inspired by social movements of the past, Justice for Christian Hall began in 2020 when Christian Hall, a Chinese-American teenager was killed by the Pennsylvania State Police while suffering a mental health crisis on an Overpass In Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. Christian's parents Gareth and Fe Hall and The Hall Family have united with Community Leaders and Civil Rights Attorneys Ben Crump, Esq. and Devon Jacob, Esq. to organize and make an impact for change. Pretty quickly, this singular moment evolved into a full-fledged movement for reform in Mental Health and Policing and as a rally call against Anti-Asian Hate Crimes.

Our Social Movement challenges the status quo, holding our leaders accountable and fighting for solutions that will transform society for all marginalized people: Black, Asian, Indigenous and People of Color. Christian Hall's family is a multi-ethnic and multiplayer-racial family: Black, Asian and Latino.
